January 5, 1926 - March 16, 2020

Betty Stephens was born January 5, 1926 in Madison, WI. In 1933, her family moved to So. California just as the earthquake devastated Long Beach. They settled in Huntington Park where Betty graduated in 1944. After the war, she was introduced to her future husband, John Stephens, also a H.P. grad. They married in 1948 and moved to Phoenix for John’s work. Their first child, John III was born in Phoenix in 1951. Back to California where they purchased a new home in Downey. In 1953 their daughter, Susie was born followed by Judi in 1960. In 1988, the retired couple moved to Rancho Mirage, CA. Very much the happy wanderer, Betty planned many trips all over the world. After her husband passed away in 2003, Betty continued to travel to China, Alaska and Ireland. When asked if she had any missing trip on her bucket list, she mentioned Machu Picchu. We hope she stopped by for a visit on her way to heaven after passing away at age 94 on March 16, 2020 in Palm Desert, CA. Betty is survived by her son, John Stephens III, daughter Susie Erickson (David), daughter Judi Sutton (David) and grandchildren, Aimie, Parker, Miles and Linnet. She will be buried along side her husband at Riverside National Cemetery.
