Assistant city manager John Oskoui placed on administrative leave

DOWNEY — Assistant City Manager John Oskoui has been placed on paid administrative leave, effective April 4.

Details as to why Oskoui was placed on leave are not available. A statement released by the city described the situation as a “confidential personnel matter.”

The city was unable to provide any further comment.

Oskoui has been Downey’s assistant city manager since 2012, after previously serving as public works director.

The announcement comes at a volatile time in Downey with City Manager Gilbert Livas leaving July 1.
