Anton Linzner
January 25, 1931 - June 20, 2024
Anton Linzner passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2024, after a dealing with a variety of health issues. He was 93 years old. He was a beloved father, grandfather, and a dreamer who always wanted the best opportunities for him and his family.
Anton Linzner was born in Ruma, Yugoslavia (now Serbia) on January 25. 1931, the oldest child of Franz and Elisabeth (Leipold) Linzner. In 1948, the Linzners moved to Braunau-am-Inn, Austria, where Anton apprenticed into what would become his lifelong trade of cabinetry.
By 1953, Anton dreamed of moving to America and began the process through Catholic Relief to emigrate to the United States. During this same year, he met Maria, and they married on December 18, 1954. Not long afterwards, their first child, Anita, was born.
The Linzners left Austria in 1956, settling in Los Angeles, and not long afterwards had a son, Arnold, in 1957. In 1964, Anton and Maria settled in their new home in Downey, where they both lived the rest of their lives. The family was complete, with the birth of their daughter Diana, in 1967.
Anton worked at Cedarquist in Santa Fe Springs for 27 years until his retirement in 1993. He enjoyed gardening, spending time with his extended family, and spending time at his cabin he built near Big Bear Lake. He is survived by his children Anita Winfrey (Thomas), Arnold Linzner (Monika), and Diana Johnson (Eric), and grandchildren Sarah Winfrey, Peter Winfrey, and Krista Joppru (Matthew). He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Maria, who passed away in 2021.
