PIH hires Maria Gonzalez as chief operating officer

DOWNEY -- Maria Gonzalez has joined PIH Health as chief operating officer, Management Services Organization/Independent Physicians Association (COO, MSO/IPA) effective July 20.

As COO, MSO/IPA, Gonzalez will direct and oversee the operations of the IPA as well as all functions related to group contracting, utilization management, quality management, and claims. Additionally, she will lead efforts to strengthen growth, financial performance, and provider relations. 

Gonzalez’s healthcare career spans 23 years. She joins PIH Health from Davita/HealthCare Partners, where she served as senior director, IPA Operations since 2010. She also served as Director, IPA Administration at Physicians DataTrust, Inc.; held that same title at Medical Pathways Medical Corporation; and served as Director, IPA Operations, Greater Los Angeles Region at MedPartners, Inc.

Earlier in her career, Gonzalez worked for Cedars-Sinai Health System, Latino Healthcare Management Corp., and Health Source Management Group. 

She holds a Master of Public Health degree from UCLA.
