Scam alert

Dear Editor:Citizens of Downey beware! Teenagers are going door to door impersonating Warren High baseball and football players, selling candy for fictitious fundraisers. We had three different boys at our house: two so-called baseball players and one football players. Luckily, we happen to have a son on the baseball team. Unfortunately, we were duped by the fake football player. If the kids are not in uniform or cannot otherwise show proof of belonging to a legitimate organization, do not get scammed! And to the parents of these scammers who make it so difficult for those who really need to fundraise, a little discipline would be nice. Maria Clark Downey
