Read-a-thon for kids at library

DOWNEY - The Downey City Library is celebrating National Literacy Month with a children's read-a-thon this Saturday, Sept. 21, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.A host of volunteers will be reading favorite children's books. There will also be balloons, crafts and giveaways. The free event is intended to promote a love a reading and libraries in children of all ages. All are welcome.
