Crime Report

Thursday, Aug. 29During the evening hours, the Department's Special Enforcement Team and Crime Impact Team conducted numerous compliance checks at local bars and restaurants throughout the city. During a check at the Casa Blanca Bar (8744 Imperial), officers arrested an adult male employee of the bar for possession of cocaine.

Saturday, Aug. 31 The Crime Impact Team conducted a warrant sweep at various locations throughout the city. Four suspects were arrested, two of which were also found to be in possession of illegal drugs. Both were booked for their warrants with additional charges related to the drugs. Two of the arrestees were on parole.

At 2:00 p.m., officers cited a male adult for being in possession of alcohol at Rio San Gabriel Park.

At 10:45 p.m., a maintenance worker at Downey High School saw a vehicle leaving the campus lot at a high rate of speed. He then found numerous locations on campus that had been vandalized with graffiti. Detectives are investigating.

Sunday, Sept. 1 At 7:00 a.m., officers arrested two men for burglary after they were caught with stolen property belonging to Old River Elementary School and West Middle School. A witness reported seeing suspicious activity at Old River Elementary School and provided a description of a vehicle that left the scene. Officers located the vehicle in a nearby residential neighborhood and detained two suspects. Further investigation revealed that they had broken into both schools and stole electronic equipment, including computers. Stolen property was recovered in the suspects' possession.
