15 arrests at Norwalk checkpoint

NORWALK - A Dec. 5 checkpoint in Norwalk resulted in 15 arrests, including nearly a dozen arrests for driving without a license or driving on a suspended or revoked license, authorities announced.Sheriff's deputies arrested 11 drivers for not being properly licensed. Other arrests included DUI (2), illegal possession of narcotics (2), and driving a vehicle without an ignition interlock device as required by law (1). The checkpoint was stationed at Imperial Highway and Bloomfield Avenue. Another checkpoint is scheduled for Saturday. Meanwhile, a La Mirada checkpoint Dec. 14 resulted in two arrests, both for driving while under the influence of marijuana. Seventeen people were arrested at a checkpoint in Malibu last Saturday, including 16 drivers without proper licenses. One person was arrested for a $15,000 traffic warrant. Several DUI and driver's license checkpoints are scheduled this weekend throughout the Downey area.
