World Cup viewing party Sunday

DOWNEY – Downtown Downey will host a public viewing party of the World Cup final this Sunday, featuring giant screens, outdoor soccer courts, food trucks, and more. The event is from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Downey Avenue, between 2nd and 3rd streets, and at the corner 3rd and New streets.

There will also be interactive water activities, face painting, vendor booths, photo booths, foosball tables, and a beer garden.

Samba and capoeira dancers will perform at 10 a.m. and halftime, and popular performers Mango and Dango will appear on the main stage at 2:30 p.m.

Also participating in the event will be street teams from Coca-Cola, the L.A. Galaxy and Chivas USA.

The family-friendly event is free.
