Women’s Conference returning to Downey
DOWNEY – One of the most anticipated women’s events of the year in Downey is almost here. The Rancho Research Institute and the Rancho Los Amigos Foundation will present a lineup of renowned doctors from Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center who will speak during the Fifth Annual Rancho Women’s Conference on Successful Aging (Mind, Body, Spirit).
The event will be held on Friday, Oct. 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at the Rio Hondo Event Center. There is no fee to attend this event.
“We hear from women who have created healthier lifestyles tailored to their own needs after participating in one of these conferences,” said Conference Chair Yaga Szlachcic, MD. “If you want to learn about your own health and have fun doing it, this is the conference for you.
“Women who have attended tell me what a difference this makes in their lives and those they care for, so we created out best yet Women’s Health Conference for 2014.”
“This event is really a gift to the women of Downey and I would never miss the opportunity,” said Downey civic leader Beverly Mathis. “The doctors make it interactive with time for questions and really get us energized with Yoga and Zumba.”

Yaga Szlachcic, MD, Chair of Rancho’s Department of Medicine and President of Rancho Research Institute will open the event and set the tone for a rewarding day of learning about aging successfully
Susan Shaw, MD, Rancho Neurologist will speak on stroke prevention in women
Stefan Bughi, MD, Rancho Endocrinologist will speak on aging with joy in your life
Natalie Nevins, DO, Medical Director, Amrit Davaa Wellness Center; Family medicine and neuromusculoskeletal medicine specialist will speak on principals of wellness practice
Connie Wetzstein, PhD, CLU, CHFC Chartered Financial Consultant will speak on aging with financial health
Sylvia Shaw, MD, Rancho Chief of endocrinology and diabetes will speak on aging gracefully and healthfully
