Police marking third-row seats

DOWNEY – In an effort to reduce the number of third-row seats stolen from sport utility vehicles, police officers are offering to etch license plate numbers onto third-row seat frames this Saturday. “Operation Save Our Seats” specifically targets newer model Chevy Tahoes, GMC Yukons and Cadillac Escalades, however, all vehicles with removable third-row seats can request an etching.

Etchings are done free of charge and take about 15-20 minutes to complete. The operation will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the police department’s west parking lot.
