Free prom dresses for girls

DOWNEY – The Assisteens, the youth auxiliary of Assistance League of Downey, will host its fifth annual Glamour Gown giveaway event this Saturday, April 26, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Casa de Parley Johnson, 7749 Florence Ave. Girls in need can receive a complete outfit for prom at no cost.

The Assisteens work throughout the year to accumulate gowns, jewelry and beauty services for high school girls.

Donations are also welcome and can be delivered to the Second Tyme Around thrift shop on Downey Avenue.
