Fall concert lineup at Cerritos College

NORWALK – Students and faculty in the Cerritos College Music Department will showcase their talents in a variety of concerts this fall. Most performances are free and open to the public. One-day parking passes may be purchased for $2 in parking lots C-1, C-2 and C-10.

Jazz  Exchange Concert

The concert will feature the Cerritos College Jazz Band in an evening of high-energy jazz tunes. The group will be directed by Dr. David Betancourt, music professor, and will also feature a guest jazz group.

Friday, Oct. 17

Piano Recital: Piano Concert Lecture Series

Lecture features Franz Shubert, the great “Viennese” composer; Auf dem strom, Impromptu: Op. 142, No. 3, Klavierstucke; Fantasie in F minor for one piano/four hands; and a lecture on piano will be presented by Dr. Christine Lopez, director of keyboard studies.

The Cerritos College Concert Band and Orchestra will present an evening of modern and classic medleys and overtures. The band is conducted by Dr. David Betancourt and the orchestra will be conducted by Alan Hallback, music instructor.

Fall Faculty Gala

The Faculty Gala is a scholarship fundraiser for students in the Applied Music program. The event will feature the Cerritos College Music Department faculty, and will include a wide variety of musical genres and performances by accomplished musicians from across the greater Los Angeles area. Faculty will showcase their talents in support of their students, many of whom have gone on to pursue degrees at various music schools.

Featuring the Cerritos College Choir, Concert Band and Orchestra, the concert will present an evening of modern and classic medleys and overtures.
