Downtown thrift shop reopens
DOWNEY – We have a new look and we want to share it with you. We closed the Assistance League’s Second Tyme Around Shoppe for two weeks to give ourselves a facelift. We have new paint, new carpet, new fixtures and the “same old prices.” Customers have been generous with their compliments and sales are brisk.
Join us for the Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Wednesday, May 7, from 12-2 p.m.
All money generated at the shop goes back into the community in numerous ways:
•Operation School Bell provides clothing to students in need attending our Downey schools.
•Downey Dental Program provides dental services to students in need. Many times this is the first visit to the dentist and the services are numerous.
•Kids On The Block - provide information to elementary school students on bullying, dealing with strangers, and numerous other topics requiring repeated student reinforcement.
•Glamour Gowns provides formal wear to young women for the winter formal and the prom.
These are but a few of the ways in which your support by shopping at the Second Tyme Around Shoppe helps the community.
We would love to receive your “gently used” donations. We accept clothing, collectibles, kitchen items, furniture, etc. If you have questions, you can call us at (562) 869-0232.
Our hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
We would love to have you visit. I know you will be surprised by our merchandise and will return again and again.
