Downey residents finish basic training

DOWNEY – Air Force Airman Christian I. Jorge and Air Force Airman 1st Class Mark B. Brush, both of Downey, have graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio – Lackland. Jorge and Brush completed an eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

They also earned four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the air Force.

Jorge is the son of Rufino Valenzo, Eladia Melero and Bianca Jorge, all of Downey.

He graduated from Warren High School in 2012.

Brush graduated from Warren High School in 2005. He earned an associate degree in 2010 from Le Cordon Bleu in Pasadena.

His father is Timothy Brush, of Dixon.
