Darryl Thomas Roberts mourned

DOWNEY – Former Downey resident Darryl Thomas Roberts died in Salem, Utah on July 29 due to injuries from an automobile collision. He was 50. He was born in Lynwood at St. Francis Hospital on Jan. 12, 1964 and graduated from Warren High School in 1982. Through his friends he met Cindy Reeves (Warren High class of ‘84) and they were married in January 1986.

In February 1986, Darryl entered the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Minot, North Dakota and then Denver, Colo. Darryl returned to Downey after exiting the service in 1991.

After 15 years of marriage, Darryl and Cindy divorced in 2001. Darryl lived in Nevada, Colorado and Utah during the last 15 years.

In Utah, Darryl reunited with Linda Cuny Drake (also Warren High class of ‘84). They were engaged to be married.

Darryl was preceded in death by his grandmother, Doris Hutchison. He is survived by his parents, Janet and Vernon Roberts; siblings, Robert and Linda Ann Roberts; ex-wife, Cindy (Reeves) Roberts; and daughters, Darylann “Annie” Roberts, Sara Roberts and Kathryn “Kate” Roberts.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Aug. 8, at 7 p.m. at Downey First Christian Church.
