City buys new ambulances

DOWNEY – The city has purchased four new vehicles to replace the Downey Fire Department’s aging ambulance fleet and incident command vehicles. The purchases include a 604 Command Vehicle, a 603 Special Operations Utility Truck, and 645 and 646 basic life support ambulances.

“The vehicles are equipped with the latest in computer technology and firefighter safety, which is essential in assisting our fire personnel,” Mayor Fernando Vasquez said.

A city press release did not specify purchase prices. Funds for the purchases were appropriated in the city’s current fiscal year budget.
