Parents charged with 4-month-old daughter's murder

DOWNEY -- Murder charges have been filed against a Downey couple whose infant daughter was found dead New Year's Eve.

Police officers responded to a medical assist call Tuesday at an apartment in the 8400 block of Imperial Highway, where they found a 4-month-old girl unresponsive.

Despite CPR efforts by police officers and paramedics, the child was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

An autopsy by the L.A. County Coroner's office classified the death as a homicide. The parents, who were not identified, were arrested and charged with murder and neglect.
