Crime Report

Friday, Jan. 31At 4:45 p.m., an adult female was walking south on Lakewood Blvd. from Gallatin Rd. when an adult male subject pulled alongside and asked her if she needed a ride. When she ignored his question he made a lewd comment and pulled his vehicle in front of her and exited while telling her to get inside. The female ran away from the subject and was not injured. The suspect drove away. Detectives are investigating.

Saturday, Feb. 1 At 9:00 a.m., officers parked their vehicle to the rear of Rick's Motel (9415 Firestone Blvd) in an effort to speak with a subject inside of a parked vehicle. As the officers were attempting to contact the suspect, he quickly reversed his vehicle and collided with the police car. He then exited and attempted to flee on foot. Officers were able to detain him. It was discovered that the vehicle he was in had been reported stolen. He was arrested for auto theft. The officers were not injured.

At 11:10 p.m., an adult male Downey resident was walking in the area of 5th St. at Paramount Blvd. when he was approached by two suspects who demanded his backpack. The victim complied with the suspects' demand and turned over his backpack. The suspects fled on foot toward Parrot Ave. Responding officers were unable to locate the suspects. Detectives are investigating.

Sunday, Feb. 2 At 3:00 p.m., Warren H.S. officials discovered that the custodial office had been burglarized. It was discovered by officers and school officials that an unknown suspect(s) forced their way into the officer and stole several items. Forensics responded and conducted an investigation. Detectives are also investigating. Information provided by Downey Police Department.
