Warren High honors top students with Golden Bears
DOWNEY - More than 200 students were honored at Warren High School's annual Golden Bear Awards, held May 1 at the Downey Theatre. Students were honored across 21 academic and co-curricular programs at the school.
The ceremony is set up much like the Academy Awards, with teachers, staff and district administrators recognizing students in various categories.
As presenters were announced and led onto the stage, the Warren Concert Band played excerpts from well-known Hollywood tunes.
Within each category of Golden Bears, one outstanding student was selected as a plaque winner.
At the conclusion of the program, the most outstanding student of the night was selected from the 21 plaque winners to receive the Grand Golden Bear Award. This year's winner was Paul Lim, who is set to graduate with highest honors this June and is on his way to UCLA.
Paul helps lead the Humanitarian Club at Warren High. Club members were honored as "Youth Volunteers of the Year" by the L.A. County Board of Supervisors.
