Firefighters prevent house fire from spreading

Downey firefighters made quick work of a structure fire today that was threatening to spread due to strong winds. At 3:57 p.m., firefighters from Engine 62 responded to the 8500 block of Cheyenne Avenue, where they found an exterior fire that had reached an attached garage due to wind.

Fire personnel used their hand line to extinguish the blaze.

Minor damage was reported to the structure's exterior. There was no damage inside.
