Erma Rose Baysinger

Loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Erma passed away peacefully in her Downey home on March 23 from a pulmonary disorder. She was born in Genoa, Colorado to parents Percy and Bertha Sease. She spent her childhood along with seven siblings on the wheat farm her father homesteaded. In 1945, she moved to Long Beach. Later on she met her husband to be, Jasper "Red" Baysinger, on a blind date after he came home from World War II. When she married Red in 1948, he was living with his parents in Downey. They were married in the Downey Methodist Church and made Downey their home. By 1950, they moved into the house that Red built. That is the same house she lived in for the remainder of her life. Erma was the loving mother of three children. Besides a loving wife to Red, she cared for his father in his declining years. During this time, she became an excellent cook, further developed her green thumb while tending her garden and flowers and above all, provided a warm, comfortable and inviting home to her family and friends. As a hobby, she liked to fish. At a time in her life, she and Red spent a lot of time traveling to Baja in their Motorhome. Later in life, Erma and Red joined two clubs. One was The Cortez Viajeros Motorhome Club and the other was the Long Beach Model T. Club. Both clubs provided travel entertainment and socializing. As a result, Erma made many good friends. Erma had a beautiful smile and she gave it easily, all who knew her, loved her. We know she is now in God's good hands, for which we are thankful, but we will never forget her and that beautiful smile.
