Close the border

Dear Editor:On Feb. 28, five ladies wrote asking President Obama to keep his promise for immigration reform and to just forget about closing the border ("Immigration Reform," Letters to the Editor). Do the ladies have more friends or relatives to bring across the border illegally? The five ladies should appreciate President Obama and Eric Holder. After all, they are doing everything possible to allow illegals, criminals and drug cartels to enter the U.S. by not enforcing United States laws. They have also hindered efforts of the state and local police in Arizona and Texas from getting rid of the bad elements in their states. President Obama and the U.S. Senate are formulating an immigration reform plan that does not close the border. If their plan does not pass, they will just blame the opposition in order to get Hispanic votes in 2014. They don't really care about immigration reform. On the other hand, the Congress reform plan includes closing the border for safety. America is a melting pot of many nationalities which makes the U.S. the greatest nation in the world. Immigration reform must protect all of the people and must provide for the safety and welfare of every American citizen. Lee Woodfin Downey
