Cerritos teacher charged with rape
WESTMINSTER - Law enforcement is seeking the public's help identifying potential additional victims of a teacher charged with sexually assaulting and raping a female relative.Jeffrey Scott Jones, 53, Huntington Beach, is charged with two felony counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and one felony count of continuous sexual abuse. If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum sentence of life in state prison and mandatory lifetime sex offender registration. He is being held on $1 million bail. At the time of the alleged crime, Jones was teaching advanced placement English at Libra Academy in Huntington Park. He previously taught at Bell High School in the city of Bell and Gahr High School in Cerritos. Between Sept. 1, 2012, and April 30, 2013, Jones is accused of sexually assaulting his 13-year-old female relative, Jane Doe, by touching the victim's chest and vagina over her clothing and under her clothing on different occasions. On May 4, 2013, and May 9, 2013, Jones is accused of raping Jane Doe.
