Soroptimist looks to honor working women

DOWNEY - Soroptimist International of Downey is now accepting nominations for its Women's Opportunity Awards recognizing women who go to school and are the primary breadwinner for their family.The awards are issued annually by Soroptimist clubs in 19 countries and territories to assist women who are working to better their lives. Award winners can use the cash award to help them finish school, including paying for books, childcare and transportation. The cash award varies from club to club. Award winners also become eligible to receive region-level awards, which are granted through Soroptimist's 28 geographic regions. Applications are due Tuesday and can be downloaded from soroptimistdowney.org.
