YMCA hosting 'Battle of the Businesses' competition
DOWNEY -- The Downey YMCA will host its first annual "Battle of the Businesses" fundraiser later this month, a 4-day tournament in which local businesses and organizations are invited to compete in a variety of events.
The friendly competition will see businesses and their employees compete in events such as bowling, miniature golf, dodgeball, a mini-triathlon, an obstacle course, and more. Service clubs are also invited to compete.
The tournament is Aug. 19-22, with most of the events taking place at the YMCA. Bowling will take place at Del Rio Lanes, and Golf 'N Stuff will host the miniature golf competition.
Entry fee is $400 per team, with up to 10 players allowed per team. Small businesses can pair up with each other to round out the roster and share the entry fee.
An awards ceremony will be held Aug. 22 at the YMCA, with the competition's overall winner receiving a perpetual trophy to keep at their office.
All proceeds benefit the YMCA and their youth programs.
