Frank Hall, longtime member of Downey Rotary, passes away
DOWNEY – Francis Hall, better known to most as Frank, passed away Feb. 5.
He was born Jan. 5, 1926 in St. John, Kansas and raised in Seward, Kansas. He enlisted in the Navy at age 17 and served a total 15 years in active duty and reserves.
He earned Bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University and worked for the Southern California Gas Company for 46 years. That’s where Frank met Edith DeMeerleer, who became his wife in 1956. They moved to Downey a few years later and remained in the same house where they raised their family for the rest of their lives.
They were parishioners at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, and then St. Raymond Church. He was a member of the Rotary Club for many years and remained active well into his retirement.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife and son Thomas, and is survived by his daughters Susan (Rafael) Iglesias, Janet (Tom) Thompson, and Laura McMillen and grandchildren Rachel, Thomas, West, Andrew, Travis, Jourdan, and great-grandson, Caleb.
