World of Décor is closing

DOWNEY - World of Décor, the high-end furnishing store known for its collection of large-scale statues, fountains, clocks, and columns, is going out of business.Store representatives could not be reached to comment on the closure, but last week banners were placed outside the store at 11111 Florence Ave. to promote a "Going Out of Business" sale. Acting City Planner William Davis received no formal indication from the store about the closure, but acknowledged that traffic seemed to be dying down at World of Décor. Over the years, the city has taken issue with some of the store's practices. Last year, the store was cited for storing several statues in their back lot in plain view of drivers on the 5 freeway. "It was a matter of them wanting to do their own thing," said Davis. "But they have been in compliance for more than a year now." World of Décor is an Orlando-based corporation with stores in Florida, Texas and California. According to the World of Décor's website, a new store is coming soon to Irvine.
