With renovations looming, SEAACA cuts adoption prices

DOWNEY − SEAACA has discounted its adoption rates for pets to $5 as it prepares to start an extensive renovation.

Although the walls and structure of the center will remain the same, the shelter’s flooring will be replaced. All kennels will be removed, refurbished, reparied and replaced.

Wall and doorways also will be repaired.

The renovation is expected to last nine weeks and begins Saturday. SEAACA’s last renovation was in 2001.

Select animals can be adopted for $5. SEAACA is also placing animals in rescue groups until the renovation is complete.

“It is such an honor to be able to provide the best stay for the animals that need our help when finding their way home or even to a new home,” said Sally Hazzard, SEAACA’s executive director. “We ask that our visitors are patient and understanding during the renovation as we only want to be able to provide the best services to SEAACA’s pets and residents. It will be a short period of time for the renovation for years of a very healthy environment ahead.”

SEAACA houses approximately 300 animals at any given time.
