Weeklong Bach festival in Whittier

WHITTIER – A series of delightful performances for lovers of Johann Sebastian Bach and Baroque music is offered next week as part of the Whittier College Bach Festival, celebrating the master’s incomparable music during the month of his birth (March 21, 1685). Schedule of events for the 78th Annual Whittier College Bach Festival:

Wednesday, March 25, 7 p.m. Chorale Bel Canto: concert preview, remarks by Dr. Stephen Gothold, musical director and conductor, emeritus professor of music at Whittier College. Whittier Public Library’s Whittwood Branch, 110537 Santa Gertrudes Ave., free

Friday, March 27, 8 p.m. Horizon Chamber Players concert. Whittier College Memorial Chapel, 13406 E. Philadelphia St.

Saturday, March 28, 4 p.m. Chorale Bel Canto concert: “Music of the Bach Family.” First Friends Church, 13205 E. Philadelphia St.

Saturday, March 28, 7 p.m. Dr. Ray Erickson, lecture: “The Musical Bach Family.” Whittier College Memorial Chapel.

Saturday, March 28, 8 p.m. Harpsichord and flute concert. Whittier College Memorial Chapel.
