Warren hits milestone at recent blood drive
DOWNEY - On Sept. 18, Warren High School students donated over 300 pints of blood at their annual Fall Blood Drive, saving approximately 900 lives in the process.
According to ASB Director Jay Waldron, this was the first time that the Bears hit the 300-pint mark in a single-day drive.
“Warren continues to lead the way and sets the example for other high schools in Southern California,” said Waldron. “We are a nationally ranked top 10 high school and number two in California, according to the Red Cross. We are one of their most important blood bank sites.”
“Our numbers speak volumes and to the importance of helping others.”
Waldron also thanked teachers and staff for their cooperation.
“I want to thank all of our teachers for being flexible and accommodating. Our new protocol proved to be more efficient. It also minimized classroom interruptions and out-of-class traffic,” said Waldron. “Lastly, I’d like to thank Humanitarian Club and Mrs. Pardo who came in at the end and helped ASB break down. This was truly a team effort!”
Warren will host another blood drive in the spring.
