Volunteers still needed for homeless count
DOWNEY -- Volunteers are still needed to help count the homeless Tuesday night in Downey.
The count begins at 8 p.m. and is an effort to determine how many people are living on Downey streets on any given night.
"This data is vital to the process of providing programs and services to those in need," said Kimberly Barnette, regional homeless coordinator at the Los Angeles Homeless Service Authority. "The 2015 count found over 160 individuals experiencing homelessness in Downey. We need your help to determine what that number is in 2016."
Here is how to volunteer:
Sep 1: Go to http://www.theycountwillyou.org/downey_count
Step 2: Select volunteer registration
Step 3: Choose your volunteer
Step 4: Don’t forget to pick your t-shirt size
