Valentine's dance for students

DOWNEY - A Valentine's Day dance for middle school students will be held Feb. 13 from 7-10 p.m. inside the gym at Apollo Park.The dance is open to middle school-age teens (6th through 8th grade) with a current school ID. Students must either live or attend school in Downey. A dress code will be strictly enforced. Boys are expected to wear a collared shirt and slacks with a belt. A jacket is preferred but not mandatory. No jeans, sandals, hats or bandanas will be permitted. Girls should wear a blouse or sweater (must cover the stomach), and a knee-length skirt, dress or slacks. No T-shirts, halter tops, jeans, sandals, hats or bandanas will be allowed. Top straps must be at least two inches wide. Admission is $5. Snacks will be available for purchase throughout the night.
