Upcoming events at the Columbia Memorial Space Center

DOWNEY - Rocket Fever – the only urban rocket festival in Los Angeles –will return to the Columbia Memorial Space Center on Saturday, Aug. 19.

CMSC will be giving out free rockets (while supplies last), and will offer a rocket building class for $5 per rocket/class or free for members (one rocket per membership).
 
There will also be food trucks, hands on activities, and music.
 
■ The CMSC will celebrate the 100th birthday of Dr. Mary Stauffer on Aug. 27.  Festivities begin at 12 p.m., and will conclude at 5 p.m.

A full program will commemorate the occasion with local school projects throughout the facility, special guests, and birthday cake. Light refreshments will also be provided by culinary arts students of Warren High School.
 
■ The CMSC will once again present Space Expo at the Long Beach Comic Con over the Labor Day Weekend on September 2-3.

There will be many exhibitors, such as JPL Survios, and meade Telescopes on the show floor, and panels with scientists and professionals from JPL, Virgin orbit, Survios, and much more.
