DOWNEY — Last week, Rotary Club of Downey had a visiting Rotarian who traveled to Downey from Ukraine.

Igor Kukhievsky visited the Downey club to speak about his experience with Rotary in Ukraine.

Igor arrived in the US in June due to the ongoing war in Ukraine. He explained to the club that he is just starting to learn English. He takes English classes at a college to help him learn the language. In addition, Igor explained that he watches Netflix films to help him learn English.

Back in Ukraine, Igor was a dentist. He is still involved with the Rotary Club of Lvis-Ratusha, which was founded in 2003. There are currently 25 members who meet regularly via Zoom, despite members being spread across the globe.

To conclude the meeting, Joyce Yasumura and Enrique Martinez presented Igor with a flag of the Downey Rotary Club to commemorate the special day.
