Tree-lighting ceremony Dec. 8

DOWNEY – Downey will host its annual tree-lighting ceremony Monday, Dec. 8, from 6-8:30 p.m. in the Civic Center outside City Hall. The free event will feature entertainment from local schools, a snow play area, arts and crafts, and photos with Santa Claus.

The actual lighting of the tree will occur at approximately 6:30 p.m.

Food and refreshments will be sold by the Downey Rose Float Association, with proceeds benefiting next year’s Rose Float entry.

“The City wishes to thank the Downey Lions Club for their sponsorship of this event,” city officials said.
