Training for neighborhood watch block captains

DOWNEY - An emergency preparedness training seminar will be offered for the 68 Neighborhood Watch block captains on Oct. 6 at 6:30 p.m.The training event will take place at the City Emergency Operations Center at 12222 Paramount Blvd. There will be handouts and a powerpoint presentation. The program will last about an hour. The presentation will focus on what block captains can do to help their neighbors and neighborhoods become more prepared for an emergency. Emphasis on the importance of team work and pre-planning for emergencies will be a significant part of the presentation. The first training session for block captains was held on Sept. 29 and received favorable reviews.
