Tim and Tammy Smick

Patient safety advocates Tim and Tammy Smick, of Downey, were recently honored by the Consumer Attorneys of California for their advocacy work on Prop 46. Although the proposition was defeated, the Smicks said their “resolve to improve patient safety in California will continue.” Following the 2012 death of their son, Alex, due to medical negligence, the Smicks “are committed to fight for change so that no others suffer the same devastation” as their family. The Smicks also met with Gov. Jerry Brown and shared the story of Alex’s death.
