Symphony fundraiser nears liftoff

DOWNEY - It's getting close to lift-off time for the Downey Symphony Guild's gala at the Columbia Memorial Space Center in Downey on Feb. 11 at 5 p.m.We welcome the community on board for this unusual journey to benefit Music in the Schools and our brilliant Downey Symphony orchestra. Hearty hors d'oeuvres, complimentary wine and beer and desserts will sustain, as the wonders of the Center will inspire and amaze. That night will provide a rare opportunity to wander about the sophisticated complex and also to be part of the silent and live auction of assorted treasures. If this is your first visit to the Center you will be entertained by the many attractions. You may wish to view the launching and docking of a space shuttle, notice how vividly the earth compares to other planets and the moon, and even be amused at some bloopers which occurred on the moon.
