Suspect in double stabbing arrested
DOWNEY – Downey police arrested a man today in connection with two stabbings that occurred early Saturday morning.
At around 1 a.m. Saturday, two men were in front of a business on the 9000 block of Imperial Highway when they were approached by the suspect, 31-year-old Steven Aguayo, authorities said.
Police say Aguayo attacked the men without provocation, stabbing them both. The men drove themselves to a local hospital and are expected to survive.
Aguayo fled before police arrived but detectives identified him as a suspect, authorities said. Police officers served an arrest warrant this morning at a home on the 12400 block of Rose Avenue, where Aguayo was arrested without incident.
Aguayo has been charged with attempted murder.
