Surgical center to replace old credit union

DOWNEY - The Planning Commission on Wednesday approved a proposal by Dr. Elias Ayoub to remodel the existing Goodyear Credit Union building at 8530 Florence Ave. to accommodate an outpatient surgical center.Ayoub's project involves adding 965 square feet of floor area and modifications to the facade of the two-story building, officials said. The proposed architectural design by Alajajian Marcoosi Architects utilizes composite wood panels, anodized aluminum panels, spandrel glass and smooth-finish stucco "to create a dynamic contemporary architectural style that will compliment the Florence Avenue corridor."
