Century 21’s Steve Roberson presented with inaugural mayor's award
DOWNEY – Downey real estate broker and community leader Steve Roberson was honored with the Mayor's Distinguished Citizen/Business Award at last week's City Council meeting.
Roberson is the first person to receive the award.
"It is said that a true leader creates more leaders not more followers. And Steve Roberson is a true leader who embodies this," said Mayor Alex Saab.
Roberson has been a part of the Downey community for 38 years, and with Century 21 My Real Estate since 1986.
Roberson has a personal commitment to helping Downey and its schools through his participation in Character Counts annual career day programs and making contributions to the athletic departments as well as academic and support groups. He is currently active in:
•The Downey YMCA's Future Development Committee to raise $10.5 million to renovate the YMCA
• Downey Chamber Of Commerce
• Downey Second Century Foundation
• Arc of Los Angeles & Orange Counties Board of Directors
• Kiwanis Foundation Board of Directors
And has been
•Past President of the Downey Association of Realtors
•Past President of Kiwanis.
Roberson has been honored and recognized with several prestigious awards, including Downey Association of Realtors Broker of the Year three times, Downey Chamber of Commerce Volunteer of the Year two times, YMCA Red Triangle Award (the YMCA's highest honor), YMCA Distinguished Service Award, YMCA Chairman’s Round Table, and the Kiwanis George F. Hixson Fellowship Award.
