Stay Gallery launches search for executive director

DOWNEY – A search is underway for a new executive director at Stay Gallery, the downtown art gallery that regularly hosts art exhibits, live acoustic performances, and other cultural events. 

Valentin Flores had served as executive director since the gallery’s inception but left the position last year, though he still serves on the board of Downey Art Vibe, the non-profit that operates the gallery. 

The new executive director will be tasked with running the gallery’s daily operations, including programming.

They will also be responsible for fundraising, strengthening the gallery’s brand, and building partnerships within the community. 

Downey Art Vibe recently hired an outside consultant to help develop a strategic plan that will guide the gallery going forward, said Kirk Cartozian, chairman of the board for Downey Art Vibe.

Preferred skills and experience include a bachelor’s or AA degree, with management experience at a non-profit, and previous experience with a board of directors. A full job description will be posted at staygallery.org.

Compensation is $36,000 to $48,000, based upon a range of part-time to full-time.
