Stay Gallery brings back Acoustic Christmas Toy Drive
DOWNEY – Stay Gallery will host its second annual Acoustic Christmas Toy Drive, in partnership with TLC Family Resource Center, and presented by Financial Partners Credit Union, on Friday, Dec. 12, from 7-11 p.m. All toys received will directly benefit local families and children in need during the holidays.
Live acoustic performances begin at 8:30 with The Artifacts, followed byNew American, Otha Derek, MACK, Fathers & Suns, and ending the night with Long Beach-based duo Bearcoon.
The TLC Family Resource Center is a human/social services program of the Downey Unified School District. They offer a variety of services for students and families facing hardship.
Students and the families referred to TLC are typically struggling with heartbreaking situations, such as keeping a roof over their head, a lack of food on the table, a family member diagnosed with a life threatening sickness, or a death of a close family member.
Artwork on display is from the Art of Rancho group exhibit, and the opening reception is being held Friday night, Dec. 5, beginning at 7 p.m. This exhibit features the best artists from Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center.
The Art of Rancho program gives patients opportunities to be trained by world-renowned artists in adaptive drawing, painting, and photography. Rancho graduate artists are instructors in the program, which raises self-esteem and open windows to creativity.
