Stauffer yearbook staff wins third consecutive award
DOWNEY – Last week, Stauffer Middle School’s yearbook staff received news that they have been again selected to receive the Walsworth’s Gallery of Excellence award for their outstanding composition of their 2016-17 yearbook.
“This year, the Stauffer Yearbook staff worked hard to make a special 60th anniversary edition,” stated Stauffer Middle School principal Alyda Mir. “Their hard work paid off, and this year’s book won Walsworth’s “Gallery of Excellence” award for the third consecutive year.”
Several special features were added to the cover and a fold-out timeline was included to enhance Stauffer Middle School’s yearbook in honor of its diamond anniversary. This year’s cover even featured the same image that was on the original West Middle School 1957 yearbook.
Throughout this school year, Stauffer’s Journalism students had the opportunity to experience implementing graphic design, photography, marketing, peer editing, interviewing, video creating and writing.
“I enjoy watching a project like the yearbook come to life. The students take charge when it comes to what the cover looks like and what kind of surveys and features are inside,” expressed Stauffer’s yearbook advisor, Diane Huff. “They did an incredible job this year, and I feel like the book exceeded expectations when it came to the pressures of creating this milestone edition.”
“The annual Gallery of Excellence is a showcase of the best yearbooks published by Walsworth,” said company president Don Walsworth. “Congratulations on the induction of the 2017 Stauffer Middle School yearbook into this prestigious collection. Only a small percentage of the yearbooks we publish are included in the “Gallery of Excellence,” which features superior examples of coverage, design, photography and copy.”
For those in the community who may be interested in purchasing this award-winning yearbook, it can be bought for $55 in the Stauffer Middle School main office.
