St. John Bosco dedicating new stadium tonight

BELLFLOWER – St. John Bosco will host a dedication ceremony tonight for its new 5,000-seat, $7.2 million stadium.

Financed entirely by donations from Bosco parents and alumni, Panish Family Stadium is named after lead philanthropist Brian Panish, a 1975 Bosco alumnus.

The stadium officially opens Aug. 17 when Bosco’s football team hosts Timpview High School.

The stadium’s home side features both reserved mid-field stadium seats and general admission seating, as well as designated seating for Bosco students and marching band.

A 30-ft. scoreboard features a state-of-the-art LED video board display and lighting system.

The stadium has no running track, giving fans “an exciting vantage point and an intimate game experience,” according to a press release.

Tonight’s dedication begins with public tours at 6 p.m., followed by speakers and stadium dedication at 6:30.
