Space center hosting Orion viewing party

DOWNEY – The Columbia Memorial Space Center will host a viewing party as Orion, NASA’s newest spacecraft, lifts off from Cape Canaveral on Dec. 4. Orion is a key component of the NASA human space exploration program, which will provide a new capability for the U.S. to launch crew and cargo missions, extend human presence beyond low-Earth orbit, and enable new missions of exploration throughout the solar system.

The event begins at 10 a.m. and includes a special presentation, hands-on activities, and a viewing of the launch.

There will also be two guest speakers: Richard Stember, a NASA solar system ambassador, and Jim Busby of the Aerospace Legacy Foundation.

Admission is $5 (free for space center members).
