Southeast Bruins hosting spring mixer Thursday
DOWNEY -- The Southeast Bruins will hold their annual Spring Mixer on Thursday, April 19, at the Nixon Chops & Whiskey, located at 13033 Philadeplphia Street, in Whittier, from 6-8 p.m.
The Spring Mixer is an annual event where local Bruins come together from across the cities of the Southeast Los Angeles Region to celebrate the UCLA community as they meet other UCLA alumni and friends.
The event is held annually and serves as an opportunity for area alumni to learn about the association and ways to get involved.
“The event is special to alumni as it helps cultivate a sense of community: a Bruin community,” said Cesar Webb, a UCLA alumnus from Whittier, active volunteer and event contact. The event is free with a no-host bar.
On Wednesday, May 16, the Southeast Bruins will be hosting a tour of Porto’s Bakery by UCLA alumna Betty Porto. In June, the group will be hosting a Wine and Cheese Scholarship Fundraiser with funds going to the Southeast Bruins Scholarship.
The Southeast Bruins will be holding their annual elections in late June or early July. Anyone interested in joining the Board is encouraged to attend the events and become involved.
In the fall, Bruin alumni and friends are encouraged to attend the football viewing parties where they will be surrounded by a friendly fan base.
The Southeast Bruins is recognized officially as the regional chapter of the Alumni Association of UCLA, and is known officially as the UCLA Alumni Los Angeles Southeast Network. For questions about the group or to volunteer for a specific event, contact Ricardo Perez at rperez@alumni.ucla.edu.
