Silver Alert in effect for 84-year-old man last seen in Downey

DOWNEY — A Silver Alert is in effect Tuesday in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties for an 84-year-old man last seen in Downey.

Rogelio Mejia was last seen Friday near the intersection of Morning Avenue and Cleta Street around 7 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol, which issued the alert Monday on behalf of the Downey Police Department.

Mejia was described as 5 feet, 6 inches tall, weighing 172 pounds, with white hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black sweater, pants and shoes.

Anyone with information regarding Mejia's whereabouts was urged to contact 911.

The Silver Alert program was established by the CHP to issue and coordinate alerts involving the unexplained or suspicious disappearances of elderly, developmentally disabled or cognitively impaired individuals.
