Silent auction to benefit Friends of Downey City Library
DOWNEY – The Friends of the Downey City Library hold a silent auction fundraiser each month and bids close at 12 p.m. on the last Saturday of the month. This month's auction will close on Saturday, Aug. 31.
In addition to in-person bids, the Friends also accept telephonic bids at (562) 299-6790. Winner need not be present to win. All proceeds pay for library programs and services.
1. Star Wars, English-Japanese Dictionary for Padawan Learners. This fully illustrated reference book has taken Japan by storm, shooting to the top of the bestseller lists. It's easy to see why, combining fun graphics with neat examples taken from the original Star Wars films. Minimum bid: $25
